Worker dies after veil gets caught in machine
The machine pulled her and she fell on it, suffering a serious head injury
In a freak accident, a woman working at a plastics processing factory in West Bengaluru has died from a head injury after her veil got caught in a machine.
Police said 28-year-old Shazia Banu, a resident of Gangondanahalli, reported for work at the ZS plastic processing plant located at Chandra Layout on Saturday.
She was standing near a machine when her veil got caught in a reel. The machine pulled her and she fell on it, suffering a serious head injury. As she lost consciousness, she was rushed to a nearby hospital who referred her to Nimhans. She died on the way to Nimhans, police added.
“Dangerous” workplace
Banu’s family complained to the police that the factory had no security measures in place to prevent such incidents. The factory owner was convicted of causing death by negligence, police said.
