What was the kiwi symbol on Meghan Markle’s wedding veil?

In addition to her bespoke Givenchy gown, Meghan Markle’s wedding veil was also designed by British designer Clare Waight Keller.

Incredibly ornate in design, the 15-foot veil featured 53 different flowers to symbolize each of the Commonwealth countries.

New Zealand was represented by the nation’s unofficial national flower, the kowhai, which stood on the edge of the silk tulle veil.

Fans of eagle-eyed flowers will have spotted the tiny New Zealand native bud when Meghan and Harry stood in front of the altar in St George’s Chapel in Windsor.

England, Wales and Scotland were represented in the design by a rose, a daffodil and a thistle.

Meghan also paid a touching tribute to the Queen through this design as the monarch also wore a symbolic flower veil during her own wedding in 1947.

What will she wear in New Zealand?

After the royal wedding in May, Meghan Markle developed a duchess style of her own.

The former Suits star loves sophisticated yet modern boat neck dresses and has kept us on the cutting edge of fashion by wearing trendy tuxedo jackets and bold colors.

With lots of ultra feminine pink, of course.

Ahead of the couple’s trip to New Zealand in October, the balmy temperatures mean we expect to see a lot of Meghan’s iconic midi dresses, with deep pockets obviously.

Plus, we’ll even get to see a more casual outfit or two throughout the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s tour of Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand, where tree planting and sightseeing schools will be commonplace.

After all, Meghan unleashed fashion fans at the Invictus Games last year when she wore a pair of ripped jeans and a classic white ‘husband’ shirt from designer and couple’s friend Misha Nonoo.

When is the trip to New Zealand?

A statement from Kensington Palace confirmed that “their Royal Highnesses have been invited to visit the Kingdoms of Australia and New Zealand by the respective governments of the countries”.

Following in the footsteps of Prince Charles and Princess Diana, Harry and Meghan will visit New Zealand together on their first major overseas tour and coincide their visit with a trip to Sydney for the Invictus Games.

The royal couple will travel abroad in October for a five-week country tour.
