Kid Cudi delivered the nuptial energy to the 2021 CFDA Awards.
The rapper looked ready to walk down the aisle in a lace ensemble designed by CFDA Emerging American Designer of the Year nominee Eli Russell Linnetz for Wednesday’s fashion party.
“I just texted her an out of the blue wedding dress and was like, ‘Will you be my bride?
Cudi’s wedding-inspired look featured a lace catsuit worn under a matching maxi skirt and a sleek white blazer. Instead of heels, he opted for embellished white sneakers to add some pep. Of course, the ensemble wouldn’t be complete without a statement veil.

“I trust this man, so I was ready to take him wherever he went,” Cudi told PEOPLE.

He accessorized the look with a meaningful pendant necklace. “It’s the black Jesus – dark, deep chocolate brown,” adds Cudi.

Cudi walked the CFDA Awards red carpet with Linnetz, who is one of five up-and-coming designers recognized for their already impressive fashion accomplishments.
Linnetz, a Venice Beach native, really did it all. Throughout her career, Linnetz has directed music videos for Kanye West, co-produced an album for Kid Cudi, written songs for Teyana Taylor, designed stages for Lady Gaga, and built her surf-inspired label ERL.
When the fashion designer discovered his honor at the CFDA, he happened to be dressing A$AP Rocky for the Met Gala. (The rapper wore Linnetz’s multicolored quilt maker on the red carpet.)
“It was a moment of overwhelming ecstasy. I didn’t really process it until later that night. I’m not one to celebrate,” Linnetz said. “The next day I started sketching what I was going to wear for the CFDA awards.”
