Iranian jewelry designer Toktam Shekarriz released her new collection under the theme “Veil”. The new designs are based on the concept of ingenuity, inspiration and innovation to generate new ideas and concepts.
Shekarriz as a designer is influenced by several cultural sources including wildlife, literature, nature, poetry and architecture.
She explored her passion for the arts at a very young age; she had a bachelor’s degree in computer science, however, her passion for the arts further motivated her to study fashion design in Dubai in 1999.
After a decade, she moved to Montreal, Canada, where she engaged directly with French and North American cultures. Therefore, she obtained the FGA from the School of Gemmology of Montreal which is dedicated to the arts of precious stones, and obtained another GEM-A diploma from Great Britain, in addition to having an international diploma as gemologist.
In addition, Shekarriz has held several workshops on pearls, opal, colored stones and the evolution of diamonds, while participating in the most prestigious conferences in Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom.
Shekarriz has extensive experience with diamonds; she is an expert in the evaluation and valuation of diamonds and industrially produced stones. She can identify more than 60 types of gemstones and their characteristics.
In addition, she joined the École Joaillerie de Montréal to satisfy her passion for gemology.
In 2017, she returned to Dubai to start her gold and diamond manufacturing business, and she launched her private label for jewelry.
